Many exciting activities have been planned for the second quarter and our students truly have shined in the community. On Wednesday January 18, 2012 the Delta Sierra Cheer Squad performed during the Bear Creek Varsity Basketball. They performed beautifully and we look forward to seeing them again. On January 11, 2012 we kicked off the Delta Sierra Reading challenge. Students were given a free collector's edition of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and have been encouraged to participate by reading and having a guardian sign off on the pages. Various prizes are up for grabs so please read away. The 8th grade field trip has been planned. Tickets are now on sale for $55. We look forward to another wonderful quarter and we ask that everyone do their best to show just how amazing Delta Sierra really is. Delta Sierra Middle School Reading ChallengeOn January 11, 2012 Delta Sierre Middle School kicked off it's first Reading Challenge. The student body has been challenged with reading 150,000 pages. This means that each student has been challenged to read 375 pages this quarter. The top 100 readers will be entered into a drawing for a free iPod Shuffle, 2 free movie tickets, or a gift card to the gaming network of their choice (XBOX Live or Playstation Network). The top 25 8th graders will be entered into a drawing for a free ticket to the 8th grade field trip. This is a $55 dollar value! All students who read 5 grade level books will get 2 free tickets to a Stockton Port's game, courtesy of the Stockton Ports. If the student body completes the 150,000 page challenge then they will put Mr. Avalos out in the cold! That is right, if the challenge is met then Mr. Avalos and some of your favorite teachers will camp out 1 night during spring break on top of the school library. This event will be video blogged and posted on You Tube and updates will be made through out the night on Twitter. Parents, please encourage your students to complete their reading logs and turn them into the office. |
